Top 5 Chess Tactics Every Beginner Must Know

Chess is a game of strategy, but tactics win games.

Here are the top 5 tactics every beginner must learn

1. Fork: A fork is when one piece attacks two enemy pieces at the same time. The knight is the best piece for forks!

2. Pin: A pin stops an enemy piece from moving because moving it would expose a more valuable piece behind it.

3. Skewer: Similar to a pin, but the more valuable piece is in front. When it moves, the piece behind gets captured.

4. Double Attack: A double attack is when you threaten two things at once with two different pieces. Your opponent can only stop one, so you win the other!

5. Checkmate Patterns: Learn basic checkmates like Back Rank Mate to finish games quickly. Practice these tactics daily and your chess game will improve fast!
